I want to speak, but they kill my words,And even if I wake like a sleepwalker,They accuse me.I dare not tell them a secret,They call me a liar...To hide it in the corners of my heart,I know how, but I refuse,Lest my soul hold a grudge against me,And then poetry looks at me askance...What if I dress my being in a gown of love?!Oh, they strip me bare,They tear me to pieces...If I escape to the waterfall of happiness,They find me even there,They imprison my joy...Ah, if I could sail the ocean of eternity...No!My end would be near,They halt the flow of the water,They weave a great fence around it.If I flew on swallow’s wings through the heavenly blue,Gray clouds appear before me,They blind my passion…The key to my love is poetry,Within its lines I find spiritual rest,The verses summon the light,They give me vigor, soul, life, sweetness. With the colors of love I paint in poetry!
