Excerpt from the poem

O beautiful moon, so fragile and pure,That looks like her face and her lips.

That silently smiles on the sea and its waves,On the mad world, the crippled world!

That pales and fades, and lingers in thought,Like a burning candle, and like my own soul.

That holds its light like a lantern unfurled,At the things that it sees, it now laughs, it now cries...

For her gentle light and this vision of you,Is a moon in the sky of my spirit too...

This December night is to me like a spring,That flows without pause through the leaves and the stones.

That runs along paths and never will end,Like my very being, and like my own soul.

You are so far from me, O gilded light,It seems that the dawn has passed me by...

All my life I prayed, all my life I sought,The beautiful light on the shores where I walked.

But a light like yours I never found in this life,So sweet and so beautiful, and so true.

And I ran after your eyes and your gaze,And I watched the beautiful dream full of joy.

And I ran after your voice, and I ran after your lips,After the sweet word, the muse's vision.

I entered your soul, though you feel it not,There my life comes and finds its rest.

It rests on the heart, that sweetly beats,Only my ear feels it, and understands...

Only my feeling knows this spring,When inside me it rushes with a sudden force...

It runs and never tires, all through a life,And pours in a rush into your sea.

From the pouring of joy, that your current brings,A life full of spring blossomed in my soul.

I was filled with colors, I was filled with light,It seems that the gods themselves came to me.

It seems all the years and the pains I went through,From your blossoming, I melted and forgot them...

And I rise earlier, and I go to sleep later,In the sky of my soul you come and wake me...

You come and wake me and become my life,You raise my lost hope high to the clouds...

Laden with rays, sweet-smelling flowers,The soul has turned into millions of colors.

I smile at the world, and I speak to the world,I often compare it to your beauty...

I sit on your lips like a light little bee,And gather the pollen whenever you speak to me.

With your pollen, I run to the hive,On the honeycomb of paper, sweetness and caresses...

The honey of your lips, and your golden laugh,I turn into song through my art.

But inside it, are your lips,That awaken my song, through the days, through the years.

And the songs for you, they have no end,A hive of honey you have gifted me.

Though you are a dream, and you are far away,With you I play and laugh, through the verse I run.

And I say with joy, I shout with desire,- I would rather drown in your honey...

Oh what a sweet drowning, oh what a lucky drowning,God himself above has saved for me...

Such a drowning, it seems to me, is art!

***The beautiful moon that runs through the yearsHas it taken something from your face?

When it wanes and thins, it becomes arched,Like your hand-painted eyebrow...

Why do my eyes linger on your portrait,When I look at your photos with joy and delight?

Why do I melt, get lost, in those deep eyes,What tree stands planted inside them?

What leaves sway with music like laughter,While joys pour down like an autumn rain?

Like a sweet rain, with a light ringing,Whose melody only my ear knows.

And though I look at a photo, and though you are not here,I hear your breathing, I see you real!

Your sculpted chest, with its verdant hills,And the valley between where I hear echoes...

Where I hear music like footsteps in heels,I become Odysseus coming from Ithaca...

My Penelope, weave your dreams, weave them,For a distant fate has brought me to your door.

In the sea of life I sailed for years,For a single happiness, the joy of one day...

At the door of your soul, I want lightly with wordsTo knock like a dream, to knock like a fairy tale...

Open it, O Angel, open it I beg you,I ask to enter into your kingdom...

I want to see the castles of feeling,And your long hair like strings of pearls...

The bust of your body, sculpted in the light,Like the rare beauty of Aphrodite herself...

I don't know what comes over me, I wonder why I don't know,Did Aphrodite take from this beauty?

In your smile, a kingdom of its own,I want to drown, I want to melt away...

In the deep forests where virginity sleeps,I want to place my joys...

In your springs, to bathe for life,To become a song, to grow wings...

Among the green forests of the world that you hide,To build my nest among the branches...

To hear you when you draw a song from your chest,Like the spark of flame that the dawn brings forth...

To be lightly covered by a curtain of longing,When your smile sweetly graces me...

And amidst the bubbling that your voice brings forth,To spin you a beautiful song with verses.

And the letters, and the verses, to turn into prayer beads,Hanging in my thoughts, a beauty of pearls...

To make you a necklace of pearls,I am neither drunk, nor am I mad...

I am in love, it is not my mouth but my heart that speaks...That is why the song never stops in these verses...

Because every glance at your portrait,Sometimes brings me joy, and sometimes drives me mad...

Sometimes it carries me to another world,Sometimes into a dream, and sometimes into a work...

And when I fall asleep, tired after work,When I chase after creation to find the way...

I always have you near, we always run together,You become my bread, my water, and my breeze...

It seems to me that without you, my Penelope,The song has no strength, it has no thoughts...

Without a queen, the kingdom has no worth,And so it is with the kingdom of my verses...

From the moment you were found, I do not even know,Did the verses gather together to make a kingdom?

They chose you as queen, they gave you a throne,That is why my verse is reigning today...

And it will reign, through the years, through the centuries,When you and I are dead...

For truly we will pass, as a season passes,But we will leave behind the entire kingdom...

And the whole kingdom—your beauty,Will speak to generations, through the days, through the years...

It will speak in songs, in verses of creation,The only wealth of my kingdom...

Today I have come to your port, Penelope,Please open it, I am knocking at the door...

I have brought you a gift from this mad world,From the ports of the world, running through life...

My love, which is unlike any other,A love that cannot be measured by weight or by meter...

A feeling that you have never known,A beautiful dream gilded by stars...

Washed by the sea, thirsty with longing,That will never fade away through the years...

Like an April flower that remains for life...

***I stand facing the sea, my eyes on the waves,Sometimes it seems like a pearl, sometimes like a horse.

I long to mount it, upon its beautiful mane,And ride it deep into the sea...

To strike its haunches, and softly cry out:- Yyyoooo... you wild horse, with a reckless mind...

Run along with the desire I hold deep in my heart,To search and find a woman in this world...

A golden woman, a waterfall woman,Who has taken my soul and my feelings...

You, O wave-horse, do not know what love is,You do not even know the troubles of my sorrows!...

But run and let us go, let us race through the seas,To where love is a sea of its own.

For her sea, like the sea where we are,Has your vastness, and the eyes of a seagull...

My love is a deep sea,With waves and without, in the rain, with no umbrella!

I make a boat of desire, and sails of my love,And I sail through the waters, the deep blue...

Just like the sea, with its waves and cascades,It hides many pearls in its bosom.

And her sea holds many pearls within,That is why I poured my feelings into it all my life.

I want to dive deep, into the depths and the shores,To search and grow weary through the waves and the paths...

To search and find the pearls where they lie asleep,Which will leave me intoxicated for life...

To rest my head upon the wave of the soul,To be lightly rocked, like a slow song...

To fall into dreams, and never to rise,To kiss her, caress her, and never have enough...

Like you, dear wave, who never settles down,Sometimes in the depths and sometimes in a corner...

And I will wander over her body,Rocking her everywhere, holding her on my lips...

Hyyyyy... run please, run, we are late,We no longer remember the roads we have taken...

We will not turn back without seeing the Angel,Our desire today seems like madness to me...

Madness indeed, it seems a wonder itself,But we are not to blame, the blame lies with love...

And though we are far apart, with the sea in between,A hope remained within it all my life...

The hope never had a boat or sails,But it always sails in the deep waters...

Sometimes it comes to me, sometimes it goes to her,Sending telegrams of the soul through the waves...

The language of this sea, whose name is feeling,Which is so wide, which is so deep...

It rises like a tsunami whenever I miss you,And becomes like a lamb whenever it meets me...

Eeejjjjj! Wave-horse, do not fall asleep, do not,The light of the sun has set, it is gone...

In her port, far away, a lighthouse in the deep,Flashes on and off, like a jealous eye...

It is her heart, beating, flashing on and off,With its eye upon us, it stays and oh, how it waits...

The eye is a sign that comes from her heart,From there love takes its path like a song...

Run wave-song, run wave-horse,She has come out to the seashore today...

She has come out to wait for us with joyful arms,Like a nest awaiting its birds from exile...

Run horse-wave, run through the seasons,Sometimes like the spring, sometimes like a blizzard...

So we may find and kiss our love as fast as we can!
